Members of the European Parliament (EP) are pressuring Hungary to abolish its controversial new citizenship law, and here’s why: Viktor Orban is power starved.
Not satisfied winning a two-thirds parliamentary majority in April 2010, Orban wants to assure that his party will remain in power for 15-20 years, at least. SO, he changed the law (why not?!) to allow citizens of bordering nations who can prove Hungarian ancestry to receive Hungarian passports and vote in Hungarian elections. These new “citizens” will almost certainly vote for Fidesz and swing elections further.
