Subversion on Stage: A call-to-action for all theatre artists

In Uncategorized on January 11, 2011 at 6:08 pm

Andrew Haydon’s blog in The Guardian is a call-to-action to all theater practitioners.  Governments find theatre so dangerous that they ban it – as is being done today in Hungary, Belarus and Iraq.  Why?  Because at base they know that theater is of the people, by the people, and can change the world.

Clearly the governments of Hungary, Belarus and Iraq share his belief. Clearly the challenge…theatre-makers face in 2011 is to prove that they are right: that theatre is indeed a force to be reckoned with…”

Theatre artists:  now is the time to live up to your responsibility.  The world needs you to raise your voice and show your bite.  Go for it!
