Yesterday, Orban defended Hungary’s new media law in The Financial Times.
We must say, this is an incredibly entertaining read. For a former anti-Communist, Mr. Orban really knows the ins and outs of Soviet-era lingo. Perhaps he’s just retro.
“Given that our media law does not contain any uniquely Hungarian regulations, we should only be obliged to change it if similar regulations in other EU member states have to be changed as well, otherwise it would be discriminatory and we would of course reject such pressure.”
Um…is anyone else confused? Could someone please tell us what other EU member state has a media law similar to Hungary’s? Anyone? … Bueller? Bueller?
