In Uncategorized on January 7, 2011 at 5:47 pm

When Human Rights Watch, one of the world’s leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights, sounds the alarm, the world listens.  We just hope the world responds.

On its website today, HRW posted a strong call to action to all  EU member states and the European Commission to press Hungary to “to address its own serious human rights shortcomings, beginning with a problematic media law.”

While focusing on the the media law, HRW also catalogues Hungary’s history of other human rights abuses, including illegal and unethical approaches to asylum and migration, and longstanding discrimination and abuse against its Roma population.

Thank you Human Rights Watch!
